South Africa and Zimbabwe to tour Namibia for white-ball series in August-September 2026

Namibia will host South Africa and Zimbabwe for a white-ball tour that gets underway on August 28, 2026. The programme features a T20I tri-series involving all three nations, followed by a three-match ODI series between South Africa and Namibia beginning September 9, 2026.

A total of ten matches across both legs will be staged at the Namibia Cricket Ground, a two-ground facility in Windhoek that opened in 2025.

"We are immensely grateful to Cricket South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket for their commitment to this series, which reflects the strong partnership and shared vision to grow cricket across the African continent," Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller was quoted as saying.

Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki outlined the broader purpose behind the tour.

"We are excited to be part of this white-ball tour, which not only further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the game in our neighbouring countries, but also builds excitement ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by all three nations," Moseki said.

The T20I tri-series follows a double round-robin group stage, producing seven matches in total before the final, which is scheduled for September 6, 2026. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia each face the other two sides twice during the group phase, with the top two teams advancing to the title decider.

The tri-series carries significance beyond the results on the field. It is designed as a precursor to a proposed Africa T20 Cup that is planned to begin from 2027 onwards, and proceeds generated by the event will be channelled to the Africa Cricket Association to fund development programmes across the continent.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia are the three co-hosts of the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, adding further context to a series that brings the three nations together on the field ahead of that global event.

The three-match ODI series between South Africa and Namibia, starting September 9, 2026, will mark the first occasion the two sides have met in ODI cricket. The fixture represents a significant step for Namibia as a full member host nation.

All three ODIs will be held at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, the same venue that stages the tri-series. The facility, which opened in 2025 and comprises two grounds, will therefore host every one of the ten scheduled matches across the entire tour, cementing its place as the centrepiece of a landmark home series for Namibian cricket.
