Talks are underway for an all-format tour of South Africa of Pakistan soon. The Proteas had last played a Test series (two-match series) in Pakistan in January-February 2021.

A two-match Test series will be followed by three ODIs, which will be succeeded by three T20Is. The series is expected to played between October 12 and November 9, as per The Express Tribune.

The two Tests will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from October 12 to 16 and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24, respectively. The white-ball series will begin on October 28 in Rawalpindi while the other two of ODIs will be played at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on October 31 and November 2. The first T20I is slated to take place in Multan on November 5, while the remainder of the matches will be played in Lahore on successive days (November 8 and November 9).

The schedule, however, has been deemed as a provisional one for the time being and remains subject to confirmation after discussions between the boards.

A South African delegation recently visited Pakistan to assess the level of security and logistical arrangements before the final approval for the tour. The committee did not inspect the venue in Multan, which has raised suspicion over the likelihood of the venue hosting a fixture.

The Proteas' last tour to Pakistan dates back to January-February 2021, when they suffered a whitewash in the Test series and lost 1-2 in T20Is under Quinton de Kock’s captaincy

The Iqbal Stadium was earlier scheduled to host two T20I matches against Bangladesh after a 17-year hiatus in May earlier this year. However, both the matches were shifted to Lahore due to the rescheduling of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
