Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again delivered a breathtaking performance on the grand stage as he tore apart the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack in the IPL 2026 Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The 15-year-old prodigy hammered a sensational half-century in just 16 deliveries and etched his name alongside some of the greatest hitters in IPL history.

Suryavanshi’s fearless innings not only gave Rajasthan Royals a blazing start in the knockout clash but also helped him enter an elite list of batters with the fastest fifties in IPL playoff history. The young opener continued his dream season by breaking another long-standing record previously held by batting icon Chris Gayle.

The left-handed batter wasted no time after walking out to bat and launched an all-out assault on the SRH bowling attack from the very beginning. His clean ball-striking and fearless intent stunned both fans and opposition players as boundaries and sixes flowed freely.

Suryavanshi reached his half-century in only 16 balls, equalling the long-standing IPL playoff record set by former Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina during Qualifier 2 of the 2014 season against Punjab.

What made the knock even more special was the occasion. Delivering such an explosive innings in a knockout encounter highlighted the youngster’s temperament and ability to thrive under pressure despite his age.

Suryavanshi’s incredible innings also saw him surpass one of the most iconic batting records in IPL history. During his attacking knock, the Rajasthan Royals batter smashed his 60th six of the season and overtook Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a single IPL edition.

Gayle had struck 59 sixes during his unforgettable 2012 campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a record that stood untouched for 14 years. However, Suryavanshi’s fearless batting throughout IPL 2026 finally pushed him past the legendary Caribbean batter.

The teenager has been in astonishing form this season and has emerged as one of the biggest talking points of the tournament. His strike rate has remained above 232 while consistently dismantling bowling attacks with fearless strokeplay.

Apart from rewriting the six-hitting record books, Suryavanshi also became the youngest player in IPL history to score both 500 and 600 runs in a single season. In doing so, he surpassed the previous milestone held by Rishabh Pant from the 2018 edition.

The Eliminator knock further strengthened his growing reputation as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket. At just 15 years old, Suryavanshi has already produced performances that many established stars would envy.
