Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of Pakistan, with Charith Asalanka appointed as captain for both formats. The tour will feature a three-match ODI series starting November 11 in Rawalpindi, followed by a T20I tri-series including Pakistan and Zimbabwe beginning November 17.
A significant setback for Sri Lanka is the absence of star fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana from the T20I squad due to an upper respiratory tract infection. The pacer, known for his pace and wicket-taking ability, will miss the tour as he continues his recovery. In his place, Asitha Fernando has been included in the T20I squad.
Additionally, key pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the ODI series because of a knee injury, with Eshan Malinga named as his replacement. The squads also show several other changes from recent lineups, with players like Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage and Dushan Hemantha drafted into the T20I squad, replacing some of the previous team members.
The Sri Lankan teams combine experienced players like Kusal Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and emerging talent aiming to challenge Pakistan on their home soil.
Despite the injury setbacks, Sri Lanka hopes to field competitive squads in both ODIs and T20Is to perform strongly in Pakistan and the tri-series. The squads depart for Pakistan on November 8, 2025.
