Star bowler Arshdeep Singh has achieved a huge milestone in his short career so far, reaching the milestone of 100 wickets in T20 internationals. The Madhya Pradesh-born took only 64 innings to breach past the tally, making him the fastest bowler from a full-member nation to do so. The record was previously held by Pakistan's Haris Rauf, who had taken 71 matches to go past the three-digit milestone. The icing on the cake is that Arshdeep is the first and the only Indian bowler so far with at least 100 wickets in the shortest format of international cricket.
The left-arm pacer achieved the historic landmark in the Match No. 12 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, where India faced Oman at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Playing his first match of the tournament, Arshdeep got the better of wicketkeeper-batter Vinayak Shukla, in what was his only scalp in the match, as the Men in Blue won the match by a handsome 21-run margin. In the four overs bowled on Friday, Arshdeep gave 37 runs as India were defending the 189-run target set by them in the first innings.
Speaking of Arshdeep's T20I career, the ace pacer made his debut against England at The Rose Bowl in Southampton in July 2022 and had an impressive maiden outing, taking a couple of wickets for just 18 runs in his spell that helped India win by 50 runs. Ever since, Arshdeep has become the most vital cog of India's pace attack in 20-over cricket. In a little over three years from his international debut, the 26-year-old has now made a name for himself as the modern-day prodigy.
Speaking more about Asia Cup, Arshdeep is expected to play a key role in India's campaign in the Super Fours, as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will take on Pakistan in the first match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The game against Oman gave him some good match practice, which will be crucial in getting the perfect rhythm for the all-important stage of the marquee continental competition in all of Asia.
