Star batter Suryakumar Yadav etched his name in the history books by breaching the milestone of 150 sixes mark in T20 internationals. He became only the second Indian to do so, after the legendary Rohit Sharma. Notably, Rohit (205) also has the most sixes overall in the format, and is currently the only batter with 200-plus maximums. Suryakumar is the fifth entrant in the list of 150-plus sixes in the shortest format.
He achieved the landmark during the first T20I of the five-match series between Australia and India at the Manuka Oval, Canberra. Batting at No. 3, the 35-year-old hit a couple of sixes by the tenth over of the first innings, to make the record his own alongside four others.
"Suryakumar Yadav has had extended run without scoring"
Speaking of Suryakumar's numbers in T20Is, the right-handed batter is already among the best batters for the Indian team in the format with over 2670 runs in 90 matches. The Mumbai-born also has accounted for four centuries in the format in a career that has spanned less than five years so far, which again puts him the second behind Rohit Sharma (5) with most hundreds for India in the format.
Suryakumar took over as India captain as the full-time leader in 2024, and has done a fantastic job so far. Under his leadership, the Indian team triumphed at the T20 Asia Cup in 2025, and beat teams like England, South Africa, and Bangladesh. He first captained the side in November 2023, where his team beat Australia in the five-match series to emerge victorious.
The next goal for Suryakumar will be to continue his valuable form and use his leadership experience to help India defend their title in the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted in India alongside the neighbouring Sri Lanka.
