A Mumbai Indians (MI) joke cracked by the head boy of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School's (DAIS) 2026 graduating class left the entire auditorium, including founder and chairperson Nita Ambani, in stitches.

The five-time champions have endured a difficult season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In their last match of the season, which was at the Wankhede Stadium against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, May 24, Hardik Pandya and Co. needed to chase down a 206-run target. However, they were restricted to 175/9 and settled for the ninth position on the points table, just above the Lucknow Super Giants.

MI finished with just four wins and lost as many as 10 matches during IPL 2026, failing to build on their run to the playoffs last year.

Addressing the audience during the graduation ceremony, the head boy shared his thoughts on the journey of the graduating Class of 2026, underscoring how the institution shaped the students and celebrating the unforgettable memories they created together.

While talking about the future, he said, “Just like our beloved Mumbai Indians (MI), there will be tough seasons.” At this point, the whole auditorium burst into laughter. Even Nita Ambani, who was in attendance, couldn't help but giggle while covering her face with her hand.

Amid the giggles and the cheer, the head boy continued, “Seasons where nothing seems to go right, where the results do not reflect the effort, where you question everything. But if there is one thing this franchise has taught all of us, it’s that you never forget who you are. You never forget your legacy and you never forget the people standing in your corner.

The youngster had already won the hearts of the people in attendance with his words of wisdom. He continued his speech while mentioning the MI motto:

“Always remember Duniya Hila Denge Hum,” he said and Nita Ambani instantly reacted by clapping, with a smile on her face.
