In an exciting encounter at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney Thunder dominated Perth Scorchers to win by 9 wickets with 10 balls to spare in the 15th match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2025-26. The Scorchers were restricted to 150/7 in their 20 overs, with Katie Mack top-scoring with a gritty 79. However, the Thunder chased down the target with ease, reaching 154/1 in just 18.2 overs. Tahlia Wilson and Phoebe Litchfield played commanding knocks of 55 not out and 50 not out respectively, guiding Thunder to a smooth victory.

The Scorchers’ innings got off to a steady start with Katie anchoring the middle order, hitting 79 runs off 57 balls, but they struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined Thunder bowling attack. The top-order failed to capitalize, with Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine and Freya Kemp all falling cheaply. Only Mack and a few lower-order contributions, including 15 from Mikayla Hinkley, prevented the Scorchers from being bowled out for a lower total. Shabnim Ismail and Samantha Bates were the standout bowlers for Thunder, taking key wickets and restricting the Scorchers to 150/7 in their full quota of 20 overs.

Chasing 151, Thunder’s openers, Georgia Voll and Wilson, started aggressively, reaching 50 in just 5.3 overs. Voll contributed 43 off 31 balls, but it was Wilson and Litchfield who took control after her dismissal. Wilson, with 55* off 44 balls, and Litchfield, who scored 50* off 35 balls, guided Thunder home with clinical precision. Their unbeaten 104-run partnership ensured the chase was completed with 10 balls to spare, securing an easy 9-wicket win for the Thunder. The well-paced chase was a testament to Thunder’s dominant batting lineup and their ability to handle pressure.
