T20 Blast 2025: Ex-KKR batter smashes five sixes in five balls to chase the target

Chris Lynn absolutely tore into Llyod Pope by smashing the leg-spinner for five sixes in an over in the second semi-final of the T20 Blast 2025 between Northamptonshire and Hampshire at Edgbaston. Lynn, who has represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, also became the first cricketer to score a hundred in the 22-year history of the T20 Finals Day.
Pope had conceded only 21 runs in his first three overs. Lynn, who at the start of the 15th over of the run-chase was on 78 off 45, got past his century, his sixth in the format, by the end of it. It was power-striking right out of the top draw by the 35-year-old top-order batter.
All five of Lynn's maximums were hit towards the leg side fence. He missed the sweep on the final ball of the over to make it six in six. The match concluded in the next over itself, though. Hampshire won the encounter by six wickets with 14 deliveries to spare via the DLS method. Lynn deservedly secured the Player of the Match award for almost single-handedly winning the game for his team.
I was just trying to join Yuvraj [Singh] and Polly [Kieron Pollard] with those six sixes," stated Lynn in a joking manner when asked about his sentiments after hitting the fifth ball of the 15th over for a maximum.

Hampshire lost a high-scoring thriller to emerge as runners-up later in the day. Lynn could not replicate his pyrotechnics against Somerset. He ended up scoring only 12 off 7. Somerset won the match by six wickets with as many deliveries to go, thanks to a power-packed 58-ball 94-run knock from Will Smeed while chasing down a steep 195 for victory. Lynn ended the tournament with 222 runs scored in four matches at an outrageous strike rate of 198.21.
