Zimbabwe and the West Indies will lock horns in Match 44 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, February 23.
Zimbabwe has been one of the surprise packages of the tournament. They began their campaign with a comfortable eight-wicket win over Oman and followed it up with a 23-run victory against Australia. A rain-abandoned clash against Ireland did little to disrupt their momentum, as they returned to defeat Sri Lanka by six wickets while chasing 178. Unbeaten in the group stage, Zimbabwe’s strength has been their bowling and top order. Brian Bennett has anchored the innings superbly, while Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl have contributed in the middle overs. Their pace attack, led by Blessing Muzarabani, has consistently delivered breakthroughs.
On the other hand, the West Indies has looked equally dominant. They brushed aside Scotland, England, Nepal, and Italy to top their group with four clinical wins. Their batting has been aggressive, with Shai Hope providing stability and the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell adding firepower. Having already played in Mumbai earlier in the tournament, the Caribbean team will feel confident about adapting quickly to conditions once again.
Six games have been played so far at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The average first innings score has been around 160. Three games have been won by teams batting first, while chasing teams have emerged victorious twice. The pitches have not been as productive for batting as they usually are during the Indian Premier League. There is something in it for the bowlers and batters need to give themselves a bit of time before going for the big shots.
Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani(w), Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza(c), Dion Myers, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Wellington Masakadza, Brad Evans, Graeme Cremer, Blessing Muzarabani
Brandon King, Shai Hope(w/c), Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph
West Indian skipper Shai Hope could be the best batter in the upcoming game against the Zimbabwe team, as he has managed to hit 155 runs in four games at an average of 51.66 and a strike rate of 134.78. With two half-centuries to his name, Hope has been in fine touch and will look to continue the same rhythm.
Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani could be the best bowler in his team's forthcoming game. The tall pacer has had a brilliant tournament so far, claiming nine wickets in three innings at an economy of 5.91, and is the third-highest wicket-taker of this edition. The 29-year-old will be riding high in confidence after some impressive spells.
