West Indies registered a dominant 107-run victory over Zimbabwe in the Super Eight clash of Group A, Match No. 44, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the T20 World Cup 2026.

Batting first, West Indies posted a massive total of 254/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer led the charge with a blistering 85, while Rovman Powell provided strong support with a quickfire 59. For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani picked up two wickets each but struggled to contain the flow of runs.

In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 147 in 17.4 overs. Brad Evans was the top scorer with 43, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to build significant partnerships. West Indies’ bowlers were clinical, with Gudakesh Motie claiming four wickets, Akeal Hosein taking three, and Matthew Forde chipping in with two wickets to seal a comprehensive win.

Shimron Hetmyer emerged as the top batting performer of the match with a sensational knock. The left-handed batter smashed 85 runs off just 34 deliveries, striking seven fours and seven sixes at an impressive strike rate of 250. Hetmyer took charge of the innings and stitched together a crucial 122-run partnership with Rovman Powell for the third wicket, which came in just 52 balls.

He batted at a blistering strike rate of 250 and dismantled the Zimbabwean bowling attack and never allowed them to settle. Hetmyer was particularly dominant on the leg side. A majority of his runs came in that region, while he scored comparatively fewer runs on the off side.

West Indies will face South Africa on February 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Zimbabwe will take on India on the same day at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
