The Hundred 2026: Southern Brave announce Sophie Molineux & Chris Jordan as captains
Southern Brave have become the latest franchise to name their captains ahead of The Hundred 2026. The side, partly owned by the GMR group, have named Australian Sophie Molineux and England all-rounder Chris Jordan as their skippers ahead of the new season.
Molineux, who recently captained Australia to the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup title, was the obvious choice. She was picked up in the inaugural auction for GBP 47,500 and will now be tasked with leading a star-studded side comprising Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Laura Wolvaardt, Sarah Glenn and Jemimah Rodrigues.
The 28-year-old bowling all-rounder has only played one season in The Hundred, back in 2022. However, she is now the fourth Australian to lead a side in this year's tournament. Ellyse Perry (Birmingham Phoenix), Meg Lanning (Manchester Super Giants) and Ash Gardner (Trent Rockets) are the other three.
“It’s a huge honour to captain Southern Brave. This competition continues to showcase some of the best players in the world and I’m incredibly excited about the group we’ve assembled. There’s a brilliant blend of experience and emerging talent in squad, and I can’t wait to get started with the team and our supporters this summer," Sophie Molineux said via Portsmouth.co.uk.
England all-rounder Chris Jordan has taken over from James Vince as the captain of Southern Brave Men's ahead of The Hundred 2026. The 37-year-old has played for the Hampshire-based franchise for his entire career in the 100-ball tournament and has thus been rewarded for his loyalty.
Signed for GBP 160,000, Jordan will captain a side comprising international stars, including Marcus Stoinis, Jamie Smith, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs.
“Southern Brave has been my home in The Hundred from day one, so to be asked to captain the team is something I’m hugely proud of. We have a talented squad, a fantastic coaching group and some of the best supporters in the competition. I’m looking forward to leading the team and giving everything to help bring success to Southern Brave this season," Chris Jordan said via Portsmouth.co.uk.
Jordan has played 33 times for the Southern Brave in five seasons in The Hundred, taking 38 wickets and scoring 258 runs at a strike-rate of 162.26.
