Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has hinted at continuing his international career with India until the 2027 ODI World Cup, scheduled to be held in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. Currently focusing solely on the 50-over format, Kohli retired from T20 internationals after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and stepped away from Test cricket in May 2025, following a lean patch in the red-ball format.
The 36-year-old has been named in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, beginning on October 19 at Perth’s Optus Stadium. This will mark his return to the national side after India’s triumphant Champions Trophy campaign earlier this year.
Taking to X, Kohli tweeted, ‘The only time you truly fail is when you decide to give up’. The message sparked excitement among fans and analysts, with many speculating that the veteran batter could be aiming to feature in India’s squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup, keeping his sights set on further achievements in the 50-over format.
