'This effort is going to take us a long way' - Prasidh Krishna thanks teammates after being named Impact Player of the Series in Sri Lanka

Prasidh Krishna was named the Impact Player of the Series after India completed a 1-0 Test series win over Sri Lanka. The right-arm fast-medium bowler from Karnataka finished the two-match series with seven wickets at an average of 24.57, with best figures of 3/52. The award ceremony video was posted on bcci.tv on August 29, 2026.

The medal was presented by team performance analyst Hari Prasad Mohan. Speaking at the ceremony, Mohan described Krishna's inquisitive nature and hard work throughout the tour before announcing the award. Mohan also lauded the Karnataka speedster for excelling in adverse conditions.

"So the Impact Player of the Series goes to someone who had put the hard yards, made the ball talk, kept asking the right questions to the batters even in these adverse conditions. He made an impact with the ball whenever he got the opportunity. And ever since we landed in Colombo, you know, he had been on my ears asking for a lot of data. And honestly, in this team, if there is someone who can have a second job as an analyst, that would be him. And for his relentlessness, wickets, impact, and way too many questions for me, which I enjoy. It is Prasidh Krishna," Mohan said in the video.

Accepting the award, Krishna directed his thanks to every member of the touring group, including those who did not feature in the playing eleven. He also added that such effort is going to take the team a long way ahead.

"Nothing would be possible without each one of you. I think everybody, the ones that are playing obviously got the credit that they were due, but everybody around, I think it takes a lot for everybody during a Test match, you are here for a camp. We did such long practices every session to see all of you all lock up," Krishna said.

"Even during such hot days, everybody is sitting out there, standing out there, helping with water. All the reserves out there, coming and running in and helping of all of us. So this effort is going to take us all a long way. So this is the way the team has to be run and thanks so much," he added.

Among all bowlers in the series, Krishna finished as the fifth-highest wicket-taker overall and the second-highest among pace bowlers. Spinner Manav Suthar led the wicket column with 16 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took eight. Jasprit Bumrah was unavailable for the Tests after sustaining a knee injury during the ODI series in England, which made Krishna's contribution as the lead pacer all the more significant.

Muralikrishna Prasidh Krishna, born on February 19, 1996, in Bangalore, stands at 6 ft 3 in and had limited subcontinent Test experience before this tour. He had played only one Test in the subcontinent before this tour, and it was on home soil before the Sri Lanka assignment: the one-off fixture against Afghanistan in Chandigarh. He represents Gujarat Titans in the IPL.
