The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 will be remembered as a season dominated by batters, even as Vidarbha finally clinched their maiden title. The tournament saw several standout batting performances, with Vidarbha opener Aman Mokhade finishing as the highest run-scorer of the season with 814 runs.

Although Mokhade fell short of a big score in the final, the man of the moment was Atharva Taide, who hit 128 in the title clash against Saurashtra. His knock anchored Vidarbha’s total of 317. The final itself displayed how crucial runs at the top were, even as Vidarbha’s bowlers later sealed a 38-run victory.

Saurashtra skipper Harvik Desai finished third on the list of highest run-scorers and played an important role in the team's runner-up finish. Leading from the front as captain, Desai hammered 581 runs in 10 matches at an average of 64.55 and a strike rate of over 91.

Desai’s tournament featured three centuries and as many half-centuries, including match-winning knocks of 110, 101, and an unbeaten 100. He was particularly influential in the knockout stages, scoring an unbeaten hundred against Uttar Pradesh in a rain-affected quarterfinal to guide Saurashtra into the semifinals. In the finals against Vidarbha, he managed to add just 20 runs during their chase of 318.
