Tri-Nation Series 2025: Hermann, van der Dussen set up South Africa's convincing victory

South Africa secured a seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe in Match 4 of the 2025 edition of the Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Nation Series. This was the Proteas' second win of the tournament and their second against Zimbabwe within a span of a few days.
The hosts made a reserved start to the innings, scoring only 17 runs in the first three overs before Corbin Bosch struck twice to have Zimbabwe two down at the end of the powerplay. The all-rounder conceded only four runs in his first four overs. The second wicket was that of Clive Madande. It was the third consecutive time in the ongoing series that he got dismissed on eight.
The leg-spin of Nqabayomzi Peter brought about the massive wicket of Sikandar Raza (nine off 12). Brian Bennett tried to accelerate as he struck his third six of his innings in the 15th over. Howeverm Lungi Ngidi finished his spell by cleaning up Bennett for 61 off 43 as Zimbabwe eventually ended up with 144/6. Bosch conceded only 16 runs in his four overs.
South Africa themselves were off to a shaky start in the chase as they lost their openers Lhuan-dre Pretorius (four off seven) and Reeza Hendricks (six off 13) by the fifth over, with Tinotenda Maposa. dismissing both. At the end of the powerplay, South Africa were in a tricky situation with 112 required off 84 balls.
South Africa were going at a run-a-ball rate up until a 17-run over off Raza brought the asking rate down. Rassie van der Dussen assumed the role of the anchor in the 106-run stand for the third wicket with Rubin Hermann. Richard Ngarava bowled a fine four-over spell by conceding only 21 runs with the wicket of Hermann (63 off 36). However, it all came down to a disappointing conclusion for Zimbabwe as Dewald Brevis and van der Dussen saw them home with seven wickets and 3.4 overs to spare.
