The grand finale of the UP T20 League 2025 saw Kashi Rudras put up a commanding performance to lift the trophy at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on September 6. Facing Meerut Mavericks in the summit clash, the Rudras showcased both bowling discipline and batting firepower to clinch a comfortable eight-wicket victory with more than four overs to spare.
Winning the toss, Meerut Mavericks opted to bat first but found themselves under constant pressure from the disciplined Rudras attack. Opener Prashanth Chaudhary played a fighting knock of 37 runs off 29 balls, trying to anchor the innings amid regular fall of wickets. However, the middle order failed to capitalize, leaving the Mavericks short of momentum.
For Kashi Rudras, Kartik Yadav (2/23) and Shivam Mavi (2/24) were the standout bowlers, striking at crucial intervals to restrict the flow of runs. The Mavericks eventually managed to post 144/9 in their allotted 20 overs — a total that looked under par on a batting-friendly surface.
Chasing 145 for victory, Kashi Rudras made their intentions clear from the outset. Skipper Karan Sharma led from the front with a blistering 65 off just 31 deliveries, peppering the boundaries with aggressive stroke play. His innings set the tone for a dominant chase and kept the Mavericks bowlers on the back foot.
Supporting him at the other end, Abhishek Goswami played the perfect second fiddle with an unbeaten 61 off 45 balls, ensuring the Rudras never lost control of the chase. The duo’s partnership not only stabilized the innings but also ensured a swift finish, taking the team past the target in just 15.4 overs with eight wickets still in hand.
