Suryakumar Yadav played a quickfire cameo on Thursday, February 26, against Zimbabwe in the important Super 8 fixture in the 2026 T20 World Cup at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He took the Zimbabwean bowlers to the cleaners during his 33-run knock off 13 balls.
During his stellar knock, Suryakumar hit three fours and two sixes. However, the shot that stood out was the one he hit on the second ball of the 13th over. Tinotenda Maposa bowled a slower one, which Suryakumar picked it early, danced down the track, and deposited well over mid-off for maximum.

Abhishek Sharma after batting blitzkrieg vs Zimbabwe
India posted a whopping 256/4 in their 20 overs, with Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya scoring half-centuries. Sanju Smason, Ishan Kishan, and Tilak Varma also made important contributions as India amassed the second-highest total in T20 World Cups. A defeat for Zimbabwe in this game would knock them out of the tournament, making Sunday's game between India and the West Indies a virtual quarterfinal.
