Harry Kane‘s affection for cricket is no secret. Over the years, the England football captain has often been spotted enjoying the sport during training sessions and team bonding activities, showcasing a genuine appreciation for the gentleman’s game. The Bayern Munich star is also known to be an admirer of Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli, having publicly praised the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain on multiple occasions. Now, just days before leading England into another FIFA World Cup campaign, Kane has once again brought together the worlds of football and cricket with a humorous social media post that has won over fans from both sports.
As England’s football squad continued preparations for the FIFA World Cup, the players took part in a cricket session as part of their team activities on Tuesday. Kane was among those enjoying the change of scenery, exchanging football boots for a cricket bat and making the most of the relaxed environment. The 32-year-old later shared a series of photographs from the session on social media, showing himself batting and embracing the spirit of the game. However, it was his caption that quickly grabbed attention.
“Always ready if needed, @englandcricket & @RCBTweets! 👀😂,” Kane wrote on X, playfully suggesting that both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru could call upon his services whenever required.
The post was clearly intended as a joke, but it sparked excitement among supporters, especially those who follow both football and cricket. Many fans even imagined how the prolific striker might fare if he ever swapped football for cricket.

Kane’s latest post comes shortly after he congratulated Royal Challengers Bengaluru on their successful IPL 2026 campaign. RCB defended their title in style, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final, with Virat Kohli once again playing a crucial role. The England captain was quick to acknowledge Kohli’s contribution, taking to Instagram to praise the Indian superstar.
“What a player and what a knock @virat.kohli! Congrats @royalchallengers.bengaluru on making it back-to-back IPL titles,” Kane had written.
Despite the light-hearted cricket detour, Kane’s primary focus remains firmly on football as England prepare for the FIFA World Cup, which gets underway on June 11. The striker enters the tournament following another outstanding season with Bayern Munich. Kane scored an impressive 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions and has continued that rich form for his national side, finding the net five times in his last five matches for England since September 2025.
