The friendship between Virat Kohli, the legendary cricketer and Sunil Chhetri, India's most celebrated footballer, is like an open book to the world. The duo has gone beyond the boundaries of their respective sports to share a bond that resonates strong brotherhood. The two keep having conversations regularly, and recently, Chhetri revealed that he was in awe of Virat's obsession towards fitness despite being among the top-ranked cricketers globally.
Virat recently conducted underwent a mandatory fitness assessment in London, England, where he is residing with his family currently. The tests were compulsory for all the players, and since the New Delhi-born could not make himself available at BCC's Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru, he got his tests done in England, the results of which he shared with Chhetri.
“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days, when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or a Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable,” Chhetri revealed via the DesiPL podcast as quoted by Indian Express.
“I don’t know Ronaldo personally. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat (Kohli). The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved. I tried in my whatever way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not in the same track that you want to be,” he added.
Just talking to him was a big deal: RCB star on Virat Kohli
The 36-year-old is set to be back in cricketing action with the ODI series against Australia Down Under, which will get underway in October. Retired from Tests and T20 Internationals, Kohli will play only 50-over internationals for the Men in Blue, and reports suggest he is willing to retire after the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be played in Africa.
