The Super 4s contest between India and Pakistan at the Asia Cup 2025 witnessed a dramatic moment when Abhishek Sharma and Haris Rauf engaged in a heated on-field altercation.
The incident unfolded during the fifth over of India’s chase at the Dubai International Stadium, as emotions spilled over in the high-pressure encounter.
Rauf and Abhishek exchanged words throughout the over, their verbal sparring intensifying after Shubman Gill struck a boundary off Rauf’s final ball. Abhishek appeared to make a gesture and direct a comment toward the Pakistani pacer, prompting Rauf to charge forward. The two players went nearly nose-to-nose before on-field umpire Gazi Sohel intervened to defuse the situation.
The flashpoint was not entirely unexpected, with signs of tension already visible earlier in the innings. Gill exchanged words with Shaheen Afridi after playing an audacious shot, setting the tone for a charged battle between India’s openers and Pakistan’s pace attack.
Abhishek, in particular, was in an aggressive mood—both with the bat and verbally. He smashed a rapid 24-ball half-century and went on to score a blistering 74 from 39 deliveries, becoming the architect of India’s dominant chase of 172.

Defending champions India registered their second victory over Pakistan in last 7 days, winning by six wickets in the Super Four clash on Sunday. Chasing 172, India got off to a flying start with a 105-run opening stand between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Their partnership laid the perfect platform, allowing India to seal the chase with seven balls to spare.
Abhishek was the aggressor, smashing a rapid half-century, while Gill anchored the innings with composure. Despite Pakistan striking back with quick wickets in the middle overs, India’s strong batting depth ensured they crossed the finish line comfortably.
Earlier, Pakistan posted 171/5 after being put in to bat. Sahibzada Farhan (58 off 45) and Saim Ayub (21) added 72 runs for the second wicket, steering Pakistan to 91/1 at the halfway mark. However, a collapse followed, with three wickets falling quickly and no boundaries scored for six overs.
Late fireworks from skipper Salman Ali Agha (17 not out off 13) and Faheem Ashraf (ubeaten 20 off 8) lifted Pakistan to a competitive total. Yet, it wasn’t enough against India’s dominant batting display.
