The ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025 clash between Australia Women and Pakistan Women at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo witnessed a stunning piece of fast bowling from Australian pacer Kim Garth, who produced a peach of a delivery to send Sidra Nawaz back to the pavilion early in Pakistan’s innings.

The moment came on the third ball of the seventh over when Garth delivered an absolute gem. Maintaining her trademark tight line around the off stump, she got the ball to seam away slightly after pitching on a good length. Nawaz, unsure whether to play or leave, ended up pushing tentatively at the delivery. The ball kissed the outside edge of her bat and flew straight into the safe hands of wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy behind the stumps.

Commentators and fans were quick to praise Garth for her precision and control, describing the dismissal as a textbook example of seam bowling. The Australian players celebrated enthusiastically, knowing the wicket further strengthened their grip on the game.

Earlier in the day, Australia Women found themselves in deep trouble after a batting collapse saw them reduced to 115 for 8. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Nashra Sandhu and Fatima Sana, made early inroads and kept the pressure on.

However, Beth Mooney and Alana King orchestrated a remarkable comeback for the Aussies. The pair stitched together a 106-run stand for the ninth wicket, rescuing their side from what looked like a certain batting disaster.

Mooney, in sublime touch, played a patient yet commanding innings, registering a brilliant century—scoring 109 off 114 balls, decorated with 11 boundaries. At the other end, King showed great composure under pressure to notch up her maiden ODI fifty, remaining unbeaten on 51 runs that included three fours and three sixes. Their efforts took Australia to a respectable 221 for 9 in 50 overs, giving the bowlers something to defend on a tricky surface.

In reply, Pakistan Women struggled to find momentum. Garth’s twin strikes, along with disciplined bowling from Garth and Megan Schutt, left the Pakistani side reeling at 60 for 6 in 18 overs. The top order collapsed in quick succession, with no batter managing to provide stability. The wicket of Sidra, courtesy of Garth’s brilliant seam movement, further deepened Pakistan’s woes.
