India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, known for his calm demeanour on and off the pitch, had an unexpected moment of frustration at Mumbai Airport on Wednesday. Just days before Team India’s departure for the much-awaited tour of Australia, the 31-year-old fast bowler was surrounded by paparazzi upon his arrival at the terminal.

A viral video circulating across social media platforms captured Bumrah losing his patience as photographers swarmed him, calling out for pictures. The bowler, seemingly irritated by the sudden crowd, firmly responded, “Maine bulaya hi nahi. Tum kisi aur ke liye aaye ho, aa rahe honge wo.”

Despite his evident frustration, the paparazzi persisted, asking him to pose briefly. One of them humorously remarked, “Bumrah bhai, aap bonus mein mile ho humein Diwali ke” — suggesting he was their festive “Diwali bonus.” Bumrah, however, maintained restraint and requested space to move to his vehicle, saying, “Arey bhai, meri gaadi ke paas jaane do mujhe.” The brief exchange highlighted the growing tension between celebrity athletes and the constant media attention they face, even during private travel moments.

During India’s Test series against the West Indies earlier this year, Bumrah made headlines for a candid exchange with the umpire following a controversial Decision Review System (DRS) verdict.

In that incident, Bumrah trapped opener John Campbell plumb in front of the stumps. Although the bowler and captain Shubman Gill opted for a review, the third umpire concluded that the evidence was inconclusive, allowing the batter to survive. The stump mic caught Bumrah calmly but firmly telling the umpire, “You know it’s out, but the technology can’t prove it,” a statement that quickly went viral and showcased his frustration with inconsistent DRS interpretations.
