Videos of the incident quickly spread across social media, showcasing the incredible admiration that continues to follow the former India skipper years after his retirement from international cricket.
Dhoni was present at the venue to watch the third T20I between India and England at Trent Bridge. After the match, as he made his way out of the stadium, a massive crowd of fans surrounded him, chanting his name and trying to click selfies with the cricket icon. Security personnel quickly formed a protective ring around the 45-year-old as they escorted him through the crowd. Despite the chaos, Dhoni remained as composed as ever, smiling and waving at the supporters.

While Dhoni’s appearance stole the spotlight off the field, England produced a commanding performance on it. The hosts piled up 201/7 before their bowlers dismantled India’s batting lineup for just 76 runs to register a crushing 125-run victory. The defeat handed England a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series and marked one of India’s heaviest defeats in the format. England’s pace attack dominated throughout the chase, with Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue leading the bowling effort as the visitors failed to recover after early setbacks.
Despite India’s disappointing performance, Dhoni’s surprise appearance and the overwhelming reception he received outside the stadium became one of the defining moments of the day. Even years after stepping away from international cricket, the former captain continues to enjoy unmatched popularity, with fans turning every public appearance into a memorable occasion.
