Despite the brief outing, Head achieved a major career milestone, becoming the fastest Australian to reach 3,000 ODI runs in terms of innings. He reached the mark in just 76 innings, surpassing the previous best held by Steven Smith, who took 79 innings to reach the same milestone.

When it comes to the game, both sides made tactical adjustments heading into the Sydney clash. India brought in Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh, resting Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Reddy.
