West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd produced a spell of sheer brilliance to script history in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh in Chattogram, guiding his team to a commanding five-wicket win and completing a 3-0 series whitewash. Bangladesh, who were well-placed at 107/2 with Tanzid Hasan anchoring their innings, suffered a shocking collapse triggered by Shepherd’s death-over masterclass. His late burst not only dismantled Bangladesh’s lower order but also marked him as only the second West Indian ever to claim a hat-trick in T20I cricket, following Jason Holder’s feat in 2022. The Windies later chased down the modest total of 152 in just 16.5 overs, showcasing their dominance with both bat and ball throughout the series.
Shepherd’s hat-trick was the defining moment of the contest, a spectacular display of composure, accuracy, and raw pace under pressure. He first struck in the 17th over, removing Nurul Hasan for just 1 run, setting up the stage for a thrilling finale. Returning to bowl the final over, Shepherd delivered two lethal deliveries back-to-back, Tanzid (89 off 62), Bangladesh’s top scorer, miscued one to the deep, followed immediately by Shoriful Islam (0) falling to a sharp yorker.
In doing so, Shepherd completed his hat-trick across two overs, finishing with figures of 3/36. His execution of slower deliveries and yorkers was world-class, leaving the Bangladesh tail clueless. Taskin Ahmed’s run-out on the final delivery wrapped up the innings at 151, a score that once looked set to exceed 170. Shepherd’s effort will be remembered as one of the finest death-over spells by a West Indian in recent T20I history, a true exhibition of calm under fire and bowling precision.

Chasing 152, West Indies stumbled early to 52/3, but Roston Chase and Ackeem Auguste combined to steer the visitors back into control. Auguste, playing one of the most fearless knocks of his young career, blasted a 24-ball half-century, peppered with clean hits down the ground and over mid-wicket. Chase, at the other end, showcased maturity and composure, crafting an unbeaten fifty to guide the chase seamlessly. Their partnership nullified Bangladesh’s spinners, who struggled to find breakthroughs or consistency. Despite two late wickets from Rishad Hossain, the Windies wrapped up the game in 16.5 overs, sealing a 3-0 clean sweep.
