In Match 27 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, fans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed a stunning piece of fielding brilliance as Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad produced a breathtaking catch to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head.

After winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings opted to bowl first, but the decision seemed questionable early on as SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Head launched a fierce assault. The duo stitched together a rapid 75-run partnership in just 5.5 overs, putting CSK on the back foot and electrifying the Hyderabad crowd.

The breakthrough finally arrived on the last ball of the sixth over, and it came in spectacular fashion. Mukesh Choudhary attempted a wide yorker from around the wicket, and Head, looking to capitalize, mistimed a full toss.

What followed was pure magic. Gaikwad, stationed inside the circle, judged the ball to perfection, dived forward at full stretch, and completed a sensational low catch inches above the ground. The CSK captain instantly signaled a clean take, and the dismissal provided a much-needed breakthrough.

Despite losing momentum after Head’s dismissal, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post a competitive total of 194/9 in their 20 overs. The foundation was laid by the explosive Abhishek, who produced a breathtaking innings. Abhishek raced to a 15-ball half-century and eventually scored 59 off just 22 deliveries, smashing six fours and four towering sixes. His fearless strokeplay ensured SRH maintained a high scoring rate during the powerplay.

Heinrich Klaasen further stabilized the innings with a crucial knock, scoring 59 runs off 39 balls.
