In a truly heartwarming moment after the India vs Oman Asia Cup 2025 match, former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar shared a special exchange with Oman’s captain, Jatinder Singh.
During the post-game presentation, Manjrekar was visibly impressed by the humble demeanor of the Oman skipper and the fighting spirit of his team. “Every time I look at you, I first feel like giving you a hug. You are a very, very likeable cricketer. Excellent performance today, you must be so proud of your team,” Manjrekar said. The warm hug and words of praise from the cricketing veteran to the leader of a rising team became a poignant highlight of the evening.
Speaking after the match, a visibly proud Jatinder acknowledged his team’s effort and character. He admitted that while Oman’s team lacks experience and exposure, this high-pressure game against India was a “blessing in disguise,” He explained that his players executed their plans well and were “very much in the present,” which allowed them to give India a scare. Jatinder expressed that this experience would be invaluable as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifier. The Oman captain’s gracious remarks, combined with Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav also sharing insights with the opposition players, exemplified the spirit of cricket that was on full display.
Awww… we agree with you @sanjaymanjrekar 😊
Sending some virtual hugs from us too Jatinder! 🤗
