Cricket fans were treated to a delightful piece of batting brilliance from Sanju Samson during India’s clash against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025 group stage. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter, who has been in good touch in recent outings, produced a towering six off Oman pacer Shah Faisal that instantly set social media buzzing. The match, played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, witnessed moments of both dominance and resilience, but Samson’s clean strike stood out as one of the highlights of the innings.
The iconic shot came in the fourth over of India’s innings when Faisal was brought into the attack. On the third delivery of the over, Faisal missed his line and length, dishing out a half-volley on middle and leg. Samson, who was searching for a release shot, picked it early and unleashed a powerful whip towards cow corner. The ball sailed high and handsome, traveling a massive 87 meters before landing well into the stands.
The effortless nature of the stroke showcased Samson’s timing and strength, leaving both commentators and fans in awe. The video clip of the maximum was quickly circulated online, with Sony Sports sharing the official highlight on social media. Fans lauded the Kerala star’s ability to clear the boundary with such ease, calling it one of the shots of the tournament so far.

Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 188/8 in their 20 overs. The innings was built around Samson’s steady knock of 56 off 45 balls, which included three fours and three towering sixes. His composed approach provided much-needed stability after the early loss of wickets.
Alongside Samson, young opener Abhishek Sharma played a fiery cameo, smashing 38 runs off just 15 deliveries. His aggressive batting in the powerplay helped India get off to a quick start and pile pressure on Oman’s bowling attack. Despite the middle-order stumbles, the contributions from Samson and Abhishek ensured India crossed the 180-run mark, giving their bowlers enough cushion to defend.
While Samson and Abhishek were the standout performers with the bat, Oman did well to peg India back in the middle and death overs. Faisal, despite being on the receiving end of Samson’s maximum, picked up key wickets later in the innings. Their bowlers bowled with discipline in the final overs, restricting what at one stage looked like a 200-plus total.
