In what turned out to be an emotional prelude to the final league clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants, two stalwarts of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan, shared a heartfelt moment that resonated far beyond the cricketing action. The Ekana Stadium in Lucknow was abuzz with excitement ahead of the match on Tuesday, May 27, but amid the buzz, a more personal and touching interaction stole the limelight.
As captured in a video posted by LSG on their official social media channels, Kohli and Zaheer, once key components of India’s victorious squads, were seen exchanging a warm embrace. What followed was a beautiful personal exchange, one that reminded everyone of the deep bonds Indian cricketers share off the field.
During the brief but touching encounter, Zaheer pulled out his phone and showed Kohli a picture of his newborn son, alongside his wife, actress Sagarika Ghatge. With a proud smile, Zaheer revealed that the baby boy has been named Fatehsihn Khan, marking a new chapter in the fast bowler’s life.
Kohli, visibly touched, leaned in to take a closer look at the photo and asked in typical brother warmth, “How’s it going?,” He followed it up with a playful, curious query: “So, who does he resemble more, you or Sagarika?” Before Zaheer could respond, Kohli quipped with a grin, “The eyes are just like yours!,”
The two cricketers shared a moment of genuine joy and laughter, their faces lighting up with smiles that spoke volumes of the mutual respect and camaraderie they have nurtured over the years. The short conversation, while personal, was symbolic, a reminder that beyond the heat of competition, cricketers are friends, fathers, and brothers, carrying shared memories of glory and struggle.

While Kohli soaked in this heartfelt moment off the field, the on-field challenge for RCB is far from over. RCB, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar and brilliance of Kohli himself, have had a strong campaign in IPL 2025. After a smart outing at the mega auction, the team delivered in all departments and confirmed their spot in the playoffs with eight wins, four losses, and one no-result, placing them third on the points table with 17 points.
However, a recent 42-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad threw a spanner in their quest for a top-two finish, a position that grants teams an additional shot at making it to the final. Now, RCB’s hopes hinge on external results. For them to break into the top two, Punjab Kings must lose their final game against Mumbai Indians, and RCB must beat Lucknow in their last league match. It’s a tight finish, but not an impossible one.
