Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots played out a thrilling Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 contest at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The Patriots posted a competitive total after a late assault from Dasun Shanaka, but the Falcons kept their composure during the chase to register their first home win of the season.
One of the key moments came late in the second innings when Wanindu Hasaranga produced an outstanding piece of fielding to remove the dangerous Shadab Khan. The catch helped the Patriots briefly put pressure on the Falcons before the visitors eventually completed the chase.
The moment came on the fifth delivery of the 17th over, with Jason Holder bowling to Shadab. The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons all-rounder bowled a slower delivery wide outside off, forcing Shadab to reach for the ball while attempting to carve it through the off side.
Shadab failed to get proper control and sent the ball high towards the cover region. Hasaranga had plenty of ground to cover, running a long distance towards his left before throwing himself at the ball. The Sri Lankan completed the difficult catch while falling to the ground and made sure the ball did not pop out of his hands. Shadab departed after a blistering 30 off just 12 deliveries, including two fours and three sixes.

The Patriots made a positive start after being asked to bat first, reaching 51 during the Powerplay. Kyle Mayers provided the early momentum with a quick 34, while Andre Fletcher contributed 20 before the Patriots lost wickets during the middle overs. Shadab was economical with the ball, finishing with 1/22 from his four overs. The Patriots were reduced to 80/4 after 11 overs before Dasun Shanaka changed the complexion of the innings.
Shanaka smashed an unbeaten 49 off only 17 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. His late assault helped the Patriots post 187/6 from their 20 overs. The Falcons lost Amir Jangoo early but recovered through Evin Lewis and Hasan Nawaz. Lewis top-scored with 48, while Nawaz added 33 to keep the chase alive.
Shadab then provided the late acceleration with his 30 off 12 balls before Hasaranga’s stunning catch brought his innings to an end. Moeen Ali remained unbeaten on 25 from 12 deliveries and guided the Falcons across the line, with the team reaching 191/7 in 19.3 overs to win by three wickets.
