The intensity of the Indian Premier League (IPL) once again took centre stage as Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal produced a massive breakthrough against Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant during the IPL 2026 encounter at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. While the match itself carried huge playoff implications, it was Chahal’s animated celebration after Pant’s dismissal that became one of the defining moments of the night.
Pant appeared to be settling into a dangerous rhythm during Lucknow’s innings. The left-handed batter had reached 26 runs from 22 deliveries and looked ready to launch an aggressive assault in the final overs. With Punjab Kings desperately searching for a wicket to halt the momentum, captaincy pressure and playoff nerves were clearly visible on the field. That was when Chahal stepped up with his experience and guile.
The decisive moment arrived on the fifth delivery of the 14th over. Chahal bowled a cleverly disguised wrong’un, tempting Pant into attempting a big slog over the leg side. However, the batter failed to middle the shot properly and only managed to get height without enough distance.
Stationed in the deep, Marco Jansen calmly settled under the ball and completed a straightforward catch, triggering huge celebrations among the Punjab Kings players.
For Punjab, Pant’s wicket was priceless. The LSG captain had the ability to take the game away in a matter of overs, and dismissing him before the death phase shifted the momentum back towards the visitors.
What followed after the wicket instantly caught the attention of fans both inside the stadium and across social media platforms. Chahal, known for his energetic personality, could not contain his emotions after dismissing one of India’s most explosive batters. The leg-spinner turned towards Pant and let out a fierce roar, celebrating with unmatched intensity as teammates rushed towards him. The raw emotion reflected the pressure and importance of the contest, especially with Punjab Kings fighting to stay alive in the playoff race.
The clip quickly began circulating online, with fans praising Chahal’s passion and competitive spirit during one of the season’s biggest clashes.

Despite losing Pant at a crucial stage, Lucknow Super Giants still managed to post a strong total of 196/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored brilliantly by Josh Inglis, who smashed a superb 72 runs from just 44 balls and kept the scoreboard moving consistently.
In the closing overs, Ayush Badoni provided the late fireworks with a blistering 43 off only 18 deliveries, ensuring Lucknow finished with a highly competitive score. However, even amid the batting onslaught, Chahal stood out as Punjab’s most effective bowler. The veteran spinner finished with excellent figures of 2/25 from his four overs, once again proving why he remains one of the most reliable wicket-taking bowlers in IPL history.
