West Indies announce Test squad for WTC series against Sri Lanka
The West Indies have announced their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, commencing on Thursday, June 25. Roston Chase leads the side, which sees the return of some other important players as the island nation looks to bounce back in the World Test Championship (WTC).
Wicketkeeper Joshua De Silva and Amir Jangoo lead the list of returnees to the international setup following excellent campaigns in the West Indies Championship, their version of a First-Class competition. De Silva ended the recent 2026 edition of the tournament as the leading run-getter, hitting 413 runs at an average of 59, whilst captaining Trinidad & Tobago to the title. Meanwhile, his domestic teammate Jangoo ended as the second-highest run-scorer with 411, averaging 68.50.
West Indies' fast-bowling department also gets a boost with the return of Shamar and Alzarri Joseph. The duo missed the tour of India and New Zealand in 2025 due to their respective injuries. Their comeback will take the burden off Jayden Seales, with the trio expected to start the game in Antigua & Barbuda on June 25.
"Every Test series is an opportunity for us to grow as a team and strengthen our identity. Sri Lanka are a quality side, so we know we'll have to be at our best, but we're excited about the challenge ahead. For us, it's about playing with discipline, showing character when the game gets tough, and representing the West Indies with pride. The players have been putting in the work, and we're looking forward to putting on a strong display for our fans across the Caribbean," Coach Darren Sammy said in an official statement.
As things stand, a few Test players are participating in a training camp in Antigua, which originally started on June 12 and will be running for 10 days. However, players who took part in the preceding white-ball series joined a few days later. West Indies took home the T20I series 2-1 before losing the ODIs 1-0.
Roston Chase (C), Jomel Warrican (VC), John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva (WK), Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Amir Jangoo, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales
