What is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's record in first-class cricket

A section of cricket enthusiasts has become curious to know Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's numbers in first-class cricket, especially after he was named vice-captain of the East Zone side for the upcoming edition of the Duleep Trophy.

Sooryavanshi recently made his international debut in England after a stellar outing with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he amassed 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.31 and won the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award. The 15-year-old was subsequently named in India's squad for the T20I series in Ireland and England.

While he didn't get a game in Ireland, he made his international debut against England in the second T20I on July 4, replacing Sanju Samson. The Bihar batter became the youngest cricketer to represent India. While he failed to impress in England, he won the Player of the Series award against Zimbabwe.

Following his memorable campaign in Zimbabwe, the southpaw has added another feather to his cap, becoming the vice-captain of East Zone in the Duleep Trophy. The squad includes experienced players like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Mohammed Shami, and Mukesh Kumar. However, Sooryavanshi has been entrusted with the role of being Ishan Kishan's deputy in the red-ball tournament.

Sooryavanshi has played only eight first-class matches so far in his career. He has aggregated 207 runs at an average of 17.25 and a strike rate of 90. Sooryavanshi has hit 29 fours and six sixes and has a highest score of 93.

The talented youngster made his Ranji Trophy debut in January 2024 at the age of just 12 years and 284 days, making him the fourth-youngest overall and second-youngest player ever to feature in the country's premier domestic red-ball tournament. He also became the youngest player to debut in the Ranji Trophy since 1986.
