When is India’s next Test series after West Indies?

India have already played seven Test matches in the 2025-2027 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, registering four wins, two defeats, and one draw. In their most recent assignment in red-ball cricket, the Asian giants whitewashed the West Indies 2-0 at home in a two-match series.
After their seven-wicket win in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, October 14, India consolidated their position at No. 3 in the WTC standings, significantly closing the gap between them and second-placed Sri Lanka.
After failing to take his team to the WTC final earlier this year, Rohit Sharma retired from the longest format of the game. Ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Shubman Gill took over as the new Test captain of the Indian team, joining hands with head coach Gautam Gambhir.
They started their association with a 2-2 series draw in the five-Test tour of England. This was regarded as a promising result, especially for a team going through a transition phase after the retirements of stalwarts like Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli, and Rohit.
Now, the comprehensive 2-0 win against the West Indies will give India a lot of confidence ahead of some tougher assignments which are waiting for them in red-ball cricket in the coming months.
On this note, let's take a look at when Shubman and Co. will return to action in the oldest format of the sport.
The Indian team will now travel to Australia, where they play three ODIs and five T20Is over the next few weeks. The tour Down Under will end on November 8. There will be very little respite for the all-format players as India will host South Africa in a two-match Test series, starting on November 14.

The first Test against the defending WTC champions will be held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14 to 18. Meanwhile, the second Test will be hosted at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from November 22 onwards.
