Guyana Amazon Warriors Women (GUY W) lock horns with Trinbago Knight Riders Women (TKR W) in match No. 1 of the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2025 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Saturday, September 6.

Guyana finished at the bottom of the points table last season in the WCPL. They could only win out match and lost three. While they failed to reach the finals, Trinbago Knight Riders finished second with two wins and as many defeats from four matches. They faced Barbados Royals Women in the final in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Led by Hayley Matthews, the Royals won the low-scoring final by four wickets, taking just 15 overs to chase down the paltry 94-run target.

Bowlers are expected to dominate in the low and slow conditions which are being predicted. The batters will look to score as many as they can in the powerplay. Chasing could get difficult and that is why the captain who wins the toss should opt to bat first.

Lauren Winfield-Hill (WK), Laura Harris, Madeline Penna, Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle, Realeanna Grimmond, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Ashmini Munisar, Shabnim Ismail, Karishma Ramharack, Nyia Latchman.

Abigail Bryce, Shabika Gajnabi, Deandra Dottin, Lizelle Lee (WK), Rashada Williams, Jess Jonassen, Shikha Pandey, Keilla Elliot, Jannillea Glasgow, Nerissa Crafton, Keila Elliot.

Deandra Dottin was one of the better batters in WCPL 2024. She scored 119 runs in five innings at an average of 23.80 and a strike rate of 109.17. The 34-year-old will look to use her experience and add valuable runs for TKR W.

Shabnim Ismail will hold the key for Guyana Amazon Warriors, especially with the new ball. She was the joint-second-highest wicket-taker last season, bagging nine scalps from four matches at an average of 7.56. The 36-year-old could be the bowler to watch out for.
