The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a strong squad, as Harmanpreet Kaur will be captaining India Women at the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with Smriti Mandhana being her deputy. All-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who is injured and is currently recuperating from her back stress, could not make herself available for the key event.
Key inclusions in the team include Jemimah Rodrigues, who has shown consistent form ever since her magical innings in the semi-final of the ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai. She will be playing a crucial part in the middle order for the side. Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma will be the leader of the spin attack while showcasing her finishing abilities with the bat. Shafali Verma will be the partner-in-crime to open alongside Mandhana.
The 15-woman squad also features the likes of Shreyanka Patil and Bharti Fulmali, both of whom will be playing their first global event ever since their respective comebacks into the international side. Richa Ghosh will be the primary wicketkeeper for the side, batting in the lower-middle order, while Yastika Bhatia will be the backup opener-cum-wicketkeeper.
Spinners' party includes Nandani Sharma, Radha Yadav, and N R Shree Charani alongside Shreyanka and Deepti. The pace attack, on the other hand, features Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Kranti Goud as the three options.
