West Indies Women (WI W) registered a comprehensive seven-wicket win against New Zealand Women (NZ W) in match No. 4 of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday, June 13.
Isabella Gaze, Brooke Halliday, and Maddy Green played well for New Zealand in the first innings after Hayley Matthews won the toss and opted to field first. Aaliyah Alleyne bowled brilliantly and picked up a four-for as the defending champions were restricted to 162/6.
In the second innings, Qiana Joseph was unfortunately run-out in the second over. However, Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle forged a 74-run stand off 61 balls to help their team make steady progressn in the run-chase.
After Matthews was dismissed for 48 off 37 balls, the onus was on Campbelle to take her side to victory. Deandra Dottin was dismissed cheaply but she was involved in a crucial 40-run partnership with Campbelle. In the end, the West Indies needed four runs to win off the final over, with seven wickets remaining.
The Caribbean side romped home with a ball to spare as Campbelle finished unbeaten on 90 off 62 balls. It was an emotional moment for her as she broke down in tears before being hugged by her teammates. The White Ferns, meanwhile, will look back on the dropped catches and try to improve their fielding ahead of the matches to come.

Shemaine Campbelle had one of the highest moments of her career on Saturday. She batted with great composure, mixing caution with aggression and even when Matthews was dismissed and Dottin perished soo after, she didn't let New Zealand get back into the game. In the end, the 33-year-old finished unbeaten on 90 off 62 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes.
Aaliyah Alleyne bowled a fantastic spell through the middle overs. She turned the game on its head in the eighth over by dismissing Amelia Kerr and Isabella Gaze. The 31-year-old eventually finished with figures of 4/27 in four overs, her best in T20I cricket.
Shemaine Campbelle won the Player of the Match award on expected lines for her gutsy knock under pressure. She put the defending champions under pressure by rotating strike well and hitting boundaries in crunch situations. The Berbice-born registered her first T20I fifty in her 154th game in the shortest format.
West Indies will play their next game against Scotland on Thursday, June 18. Meanwhile, New Zealand will return to action Tuesday, locking horns with Sri Lanka.
