Women's World Cup 2025: 'Every game is going to be pretty tough' - Beth Mooney

Beth Mooney feels no match at the upcoming ICC Women's World Cup 2025 will be easy and that members of the Australian squad will not be taking any team lightly. She recently bagged the Player of the Match award for her 138-run blitz off just 75 balls and a couple of catches in the final ODI of the recently-concluded series against India Women. The knock was crucial as the Alyssa Healy-led side defeated the Women in Blue at home yet again to keep the hosts' dream of winning a series against them unshaken.

Mooney also emphasized on several teams working hard for the past multiple years for the mega event and shed light on executing stuff to perfection whenever the team shows up on the field for any sort of contest. The left-handed attacking batter also commented on the run-scoring aspect of women's cricket, referencing to the record-shattering third ODI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, where a colossal 781 runs were aggregated in the match. Mooney also hoped for women's cricket to take off to fresh heights.

“Every game is going to be pretty tough to be honest. There’s no easy games in international cricket any more. A lot of teams have spent the last three or four years, working hard for this World Cup. So from my point of view, and from the rest of the team, we don’t take any teams lightly anymore. It’s a tough world out there in international cricket, and you’ve got to get it right when you show up,” stated Mooney, as quoted by ICC.

"Hopefully, there aren’t too many flat wickets at the World Cup because I don’t know if I have the stamina to last seven or eight games like that (chuckling). But it certainly shows what’s possible in the women’s game now if you play with the right tempo and the right mindset. I think it’s a really great spectacle for where the game’s at. And hopefully, where the game is gonna go moving forward," she added.

Australia Women registered a 43-run win against the Indians to win the series by a 1-2 scoreline. They will kickstart their campaign at the highly-anticipated Women's World Cup with a clash against New Zealand on October 1 at Indore's Holkar Cricket Stadium.
