In a thrilling encounter at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Australia Women pulled off the highest successful chase in Women’s ODI history, chasing down India’s huge 330-run target to win by three wickets with an over to spare. Australian skipper Alyssa Healy’s magnificent 142 off 107 balls was the main architect of the historic triumph.
Meanwhile, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team had entered the contest on the back of two wins and a loss, while Australia had maintained its unbeaten run. Put in to bat, India’s openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up a strong platform with a record 155-run opening stand. Mandhana scored 80 off 66 balls, while Rawal played the anchor with 75. Along the way, Mandhana became the fastest batter to reach 5000 runs in Women’s ODIs, achieving the feat in just 112 innings.

Harleen Deol and Harmanpreet Kaur chipped in with notable cameos, while Jemimah Rodrigues (33) and Richa Ghosh (32) added quick runs in the middle overs. While the hosts looked for a mammoth total at 192 for 1 in the 30th over but lost their way thereafter, collapsing to 330 all out in 48.5 overs. For the Aussies, Annabel Sutherland earned a five-wicket haul (5 for 40).
Chasing 331, captain Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield (40) raced to 85 inside 12 overs, putting the opposition bowlers under pressure. Even after Litchfield’s dismissal, Healy maintained the ticking rate, along with Ellyse Perry (47*), in a clinical partnership that kept Australia ahead of the asking rate.
Healy’s knock included 21 fours and 3 sixes, anchoring her innings, as she brought up her century off just 84 balls. When Perry retired hurt at 154/1, India sensed an opening, especially after Healy’s dismissal on 142 triggered a mini-collapse. However, Ashleigh Gardner (45) and Perry’s return towards the end steadied the innings. Despite late wickets from Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani, Perry and Kim Garth (14*) sealed the chase with six balls remaining. The Australian captain was rightfully announced as the Player of the Match.
