New Delhi is gearing up for a major showdown on November 27 as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction brings together 277 registered players fighting for just 73 vacancies across five teams. The lineup includes 194 Indian players, split into 52 capped names and 142 uncapped talents, all eyeing a breakthrough opportunity.
The remaining 83 overseas players, featuring 66 capped and 17 uncapped cricketers, will battle for just 23 foreign slots, making the international race even tighter. The base-price slabs have created sharp tiers of competition. Nineteen players have registered in the premium INR 50 lakh bracket, followed by 11 players in the INR 40 lakh tier. The auction’s most crowded zone remains the INR 30 lakh bracket with 88 players, ensuring intense bidding phases from start to finish.
The Tata WPL 2026 Auction will begin with an 8-player marquee set, headlined by India’s all-round powerhouse Deepti Sharma and premier fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur. Their presence at the very front is expected to set the tone for the entire evening, signaling early tussles among squads looking to rebuild or reinforce. The BCCI has also confirmed the full list of player registrations ahead of the tournament’s fourth season. The announcement includes the comprehensive distribution of Indian and overseas players, reflecting a robust talent reservoir and the growing global appeal of the WPL.
All five WPL teams will collectively enter the auction room with a combined purse of INR 41.1 crore, but the financial flexibility varies drastically. UP Warriorz, having retained only one player, command the auction’s biggest war chest at INR 14.5 crore, giving them the power to aggressively reshape their lineup.
On the other end, Delhi Capitals arrive with the smallest budget of INR 5.7 crore, positioning them for more tactical, targeted bids. India’s key performers, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh, headline the domestic contingent, while the overseas pool boasts elite names such as Sophie Devine, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr and Sophie Ecclestone. With only 23 overseas slots available, teams will need to be calculating in how they balance star value against squad composition.
