Delhi Capitals Women defeated UP Warriorz Women by seven wickets in Match No. 7 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 in Navi Mumbai on January 14. Batting first, UP Warriorz Women posted 154/8 in their 20 overs, with captain Meg Lanning top-scoring with 54 off 38 balls. Marizanne Kapp and Shafali Verma picked up two wickets each to restrict the opposition.

In reply, Delhi Capitals Women chased down the target in the final ball, finishing at 158/3. Lizelle Lee led the charge with a brilliant 67 off 44 balls. For UP Warriorz Women, Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2/26.

Delhi Capitals Women opener Lizelle Lee played a match-winning innings, scoring 67 off 44 balls, including eight fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 152.27. She put on a crucial 94-run partnership for the opening wicket in 69 balls, laying the foundation for her team’s victory.

Shafali Verma was the top bowling performer for Delhi Capitals Women in the match. While she also contributed with the bat, her wickets were crucial in controlling the UP Warriorz Women innings. She returned figures of 2/16 from her four overs at an economy rate of 4.00, dismissing Shweta Sehrawat and Deepti Sharma.

Shafali Verma was awarded Player of the Match for her all-round performance. She finished with figures of 2/16 in her four-over spell and also contributed 36 runs off 32 balls, including six fours, playing a crucial role in guiding her team in all departments, an effort that earned her the award.
