Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a captain’s performance to guide her side to a much-needed victory, earning the Player of the Match award after a comprehensive display, scoring 74 off just 42 balls. Coming on the back of a disappointing defeat, MI showed an emphatic batting display, with the captain leading the charge alongside England’s Nat Sciver Brunt, who also contributed with 70 off 46 balls, helping the side to post a mammoth total of 195-4 in the first innings.

In response, Delhi Capitals were bowled out for just 145 runs, with Amelia Kerr and Nicola Kerr picking up 3 wickets each, helping MI secure a 50-run win over Delhi Capitals. Reflecting on the turnaround, Harmanpreet admitted the previous result had hurt the side, but stressed that the response was built around the mindset.

The depth in both the national and franchise setups, according to the skipper, has helped players express themselves without the pressure of carrying the entire responsibility. The veteran batter also reflected on the fine margins that often decide T20 contests. For the 36-year-old, belief remains one of the most non-negotiable factor.

“It was a great game for us. Very disappointed yesterday, today we came out with a harder mindset. I got a start yesterday. Today, I had to go with the same positive mindset, though. I'm enjoying my batting, gotta give credit to the India team. We have a long line-up there and here too," Harmanpreet said at the post-match party.

"Last game, it was a matter of one good ball, we weren't able to unfortunately. It's about believing yourself and doing it in the right time. Every wicket made me happy. Nothing better than that in T20s,” she added.

The seasoned campaigner was at her very best in the previous encounter and will look to build on the momentum, as she aims to lead by example. Harmanpreet will be entering the field filled with confidence in the defending champions' upcoming game against Gujarat Giants, which will be played on Tuesday, January 13.
