Restless Mumbai Indians Women (MI W) face the Delhi Capitals Women (DC W) in the Match No. 3 of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 on Saturday, January 10 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. The two-time champions will be seen crossing swords with the three-time finalists.
Mumbai Indians Women lost their season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in a last-ball nail-biter of a contest. However, a new game will give the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side another chance to stage a brilliant comeback and get their points table moving. The road to their first win will not be easy, though.
Delhi Capitals Women, on the other hand, will be led by World Cup hero Jemimah Rodrigues. The franchise has made it to the finals of all the previous three seasons, but is still seeking their maiden WPL title. They will have to leave the demons of the past behind, and start the fresh edition of the marquee tournament by beating the two-time winners.
The Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy ground in Navi Mumbai is a ground that allows for batters to enjoy their time in the first innings. However, the presence of dew factor also helps them, as the bowlers may find it difficult to grip the ball before delivering, despite the pitch being slow. As a result, team combinations and the amount of moisture will hugely influence the decision for the team winning the toss.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, G Kamalini (wicketkeeper), Amelia Kerr, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Amanjot Kaur, Nicola Carey, Poonam Khemnar, Shabnim Ismail, Sanskriti Gupta, Sajeevan Sajana, Saika Ishaque
Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues (captain), Marizanne Kapp, Chinelle Henry, Taniya Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Niki Prasad, Sneh Rana, Alana King, NR Shree Charani, Minnu Mani
Shafali Verma has been a different player altogether since her heroics in the 2025 World Cup final. Following that, she also top-scored for the Women in Blue in the recent series against Sri Lanka at home. Continuing her scintillating run of form with the bat, the opening batter is expected to play a key role for the Delhi-based franchise in the upcoming contest.
Marizanne Kapp is the only genuine pacer in the Delhi Capitals' line-up, and she is expected to carry the bulk of the load of bowling during the powerplay overs. The experienced campaigner has been brilliant for the franchise over the years, and also looked in great form during the latter half of 2025 for the South Africans. She can be expected to strike crucial breakthroughs against Harmanpreet & Co.
