WTC 2025-27 Points Table [UPDATED]: Australia strengthen top spot after crushing Bangladesh in 2nd Test

Australia strengthened their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings with a commanding innings-and-51-run victory over Bangladesh in the second Test at Mackay on Sunday. After suffering a shock defeat in the opening Test in Darwin, the hosts responded emphatically to level the two-match series.

Mitchell Starc was the chief architect of Australia’s victory, producing a sensational bowling performance across the match. His effort helped Australia secure maximum points and further strengthen their position at the top of the WTC table.

The victory has taken Australia’s points percentage (PCT) to 80, giving them a five-point cushion over second-placed South Africa. Australia now have 96 points from 10 matches after recording eight wins and two defeats in the ongoing cycle. South Africa remain second with a PCT of 75, while New Zealand occupy third place with 72.22%.

Bangladesh’s defeat in Mackay came after they had stunned Australia in the opening Test in Darwin. However, they were completely outplayed in the second match. They have slipped to fourth after their heavy defeat, with their PCT falling from 66.67 to 55.56. India remain fifth with a PCT of 53.33 and have 64 points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are sixth with 33.33%.

Bangladesh were bowled out for just 64 in their first innings after Starc ripped through the top order. The left-arm pacer completed a five-wicket haul in only 22 balls and eventually finished with figures of 6/12, while Pat Cummins claimed 3/25. Australia took a 146-run lead despite losing Matt Renshaw and Marnus Labuschagne cheaply. Cameron Green’s 67 and Steve Smith’s 42 helped the hosts establish a commanding advantage.

Bangladesh struggled again in their second innings and were dismissed for 95. Starc claimed another four wickets to finish with 10 wickets in the match, while Cummins and Nathan Lyon picked up three each. The result leaves Bangladesh with plenty of work to do in their remaining WTC fixtures, while Australia continue to occupy a strong position in the race for the final.
