India produced a composed and clinical display to defeat the West Indies by seven wickets in the second and final Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Chasing 121 for victory, the Shubman Gill-led side wrapped up the chase in 35.2 overs, finishing at 123/3. KL Rahul anchored the innings with an unbeaten 58 off 108 balls, while Sai Sudharsan added 39 from 76 deliveries.

With this win, India completed a clean sweep in the two-match series and registered their third consecutive Test victory in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle. The Delhi success extended India’s home dominance and bolstered their standing in the global points race, as they moved within striking distance of the top two spots.

The win over the West Indies significantly reshaped the World Test Championship table, placing India in a strong position early in the 2025–27 cycle. India now have 52 points from seven matches, with a Points Percentage (PCT%) of 61.90, making them the third-ranked team behind Australia and Sri Lanka. However, their position could still fluctuate depending on the outcome of the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and South Africa in Lahore. If either of those teams wins they will be temporarily closing in on India’s lead.

A drawn result, meanwhile, would see both sides finish with 33.33% PCT, leaving India comfortably ahead. With two home Tests against South Africa up next in November, India have the ideal chance to strengthen their hold in the top two and continue their push toward the 2027 final. The Delhi win has therefore set the tone for India’s next challenge, maintaining momentum against tougher competition while keeping an eye on the fine margins that define WTC success.

Australia remain firmly at the summit of the WTC standings with 36 points and a perfect 100% PCT, having won all three of their matches so far. Their next Test assignment begins on November 21 at Optus Stadium in Perth, where they will host England in the first Ashes Test of this cycle. India’s 61.90% PCT keeps them well within touching distance, and a strong showing in the upcoming South Africa series could propel them into the top spot should Australia drop points later in the season.

Both Pakistan and South Africa currently stand at 0.00% PCT after one match each, though that will change based on the Lahore Test outcome. Bangladesh occupy fifth with 16.67% PCT, while the West Indies, after their back-to-back defeats in India, remain winless with 0% PCT. The updated points table reflects a tightening race at the top, where every match and session now carries WTC implications. For India, maintaining rhythm in home conditions before their one-off Test against Afghanistan next June will be essential for long-term qualification hopes.
