Rishabh Pant recently commented on former England international Chris Woakes' social media post in relation to the latter's international retirement. Woakes retired from all forms of international cricket on Monday, September 29, after a 14-year career with England.
The English all-rounder had put out a post on X in which he announced his decision, in addition to thanking everyone who had been a part of the journey. Although Woakes did not mention anything related to Pant, he took out time to commend his professional career with a comical twist.
"Happy Retirement Woakesy. You have been amazing on the field. Lots of discipline, a big smile and always good vibes. Now you can finally give that bowling arm a rest and my foot too 😂You definitely left a mark on me before retirement.😅Wishing you a fantastic journey ahead🤗," Pant replied to the English cricketer's retirement post.
Pant's concluding comments in relation to Woakes' bowling arm and his foot referred to the recent England-India Test series, which was drawn 2-2. For the unversed, the wicketkeeper-batter had fractured his foot during the fourth Test off the bowling of Woakes. Although he came out to bat later in India's first innings, he had been ruled out from wicketkeeping and the fifth Test too.

Meanwhile, Woakes injured his left hand while trying to shield a ball which was travelling to the boundary during the opening morning of the final Test of the series. While he was initially ruled out for the game, he heroically came out to bat on the final day in a bid to try to win England the game with a sling on and a lot of cheers from the crowd. His bravery was later applauded by Indian former cricketers, too.
