‘You inspired countless girls’ - Alia Bhatt hails Jemimah Rodrigues’ heroics against Australia in Women’s World Cup 2025
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt praised Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues for her match-winning century against Australia in the semi-final of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The right-handed batter produced a memorable innings of 127 runs off 134 deliveries, striking 14 boundaries and guiding India to a five-wicket victory over the defending champions.
Alia described Jemimah’s knock as spectacular and said it would inspire countless young girls to pursue their dreams in cricket. Alia also congratulated the Indian women’s team ahead of their upcoming campaign in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. India Women are scheduled to begin their tournament against Pakistan Women on June 14 at Edgbaston.
Meanwhile, actress Sharvari also shared her admiration for Jemimah’s innings. She revealed that her favourite moment came after the match when the batter chose not to celebrate her century immediately. Instead, Jemimah waited until India had secured victory before expressing her emotions.
“Jemimah, the world knows about your innings against Australia. That knock was too spectacular, beyond words. I am sure that day, you inspired countless young girls. Just be yourself and we’ll be winning too,” said Alia to JioHotstar.
“The biggest moment for me was when you didn't celebrate your personal milestone and just kept going. You kept your head on your shoulders, your feet on the ground, and kept playing. You celebrated only when India won. That moment was truly special. Wishing you lots of love and the very best of luck for everything that lies ahead,” said Sharvari.

I think you all have inspired me a lot more. Let's continue to share this hope with everyone around us,” said Jemimah.
