The remarkable rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi in IPL 2026 continues to attract praise from some of the biggest names in cricket. The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener emerged as one of the standout performers of the season, producing breathtaking displays with the bat and establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in the game.
The teenager’s fearless approach and ability to dominate experienced bowlers made him one of the biggest talking points of the tournament. His performances not only helped Rajasthan Royals remain competitive throughout the season but also sparked discussions about his future with the Indian team.
Former India pacer Zaheer Khan was full of admiration for the young opener and pointed out that there is something unique about the way he approaches the game. The former Indian fast bowler stated that Vaibhav has consistently troubled opposition bowlers with his aggressive intent while also showing maturity beyond his years.
According to Zaheer, scoring more than 700 runs in a single IPL season is a massive achievement, especially for someone so young. He explained that once a batter starts dominating a tournament, opposition teams begin developing specific plans to target them. However, Vaibhav managed to overcome those challenges and continued scoring runs throughout the campaign.
Speaking about the youngster on Sports Tak, Zaheer said, “Vaibhav mein kuch alag hai… IPL mein dhamaka kiya hai. Agar sahi mahaul mila toh bahut aage jaayega.” The former India pacer believes the teenager possesses a unique quality that separates him from many players of his age and has the potential to achieve great success if nurtured in the right environment.

Vaibhav enjoyed a historic IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals. The young batter finished as the Orange Cap winner after accumulating 776 runs in 16 matches while maintaining a stunning strike rate of over 237. His fearless strokeplay, clean ball-striking and ability to attack bowlers from the very first ball made him one of the most destructive batters in the competition. Time and again, he delivered match-winning performances and entertained fans with his aggressive brand of cricket.
Zaheer further emphasised that being considered for the Indian setup is a significant reward for the hard work Vaibhav has put in over the past year. He added that if the youngster continues to receive proper guidance and develops in the right environment, he has the potential to achieve great things in international cricket.
With growing support from former players and experts, expectations around Vaibhav continue to rise. However, his IPL 2026 performances have already shown that he possesses the talent, confidence and temperament needed to become one of Indian cricket’s biggest stars in the years ahead.
