ZIM vs IND 2026: Zimbabwe vs India Highlights & Review – 1st T20I

India registered a comprehensive seven-wicket win on the back of superb performances from Mayank Yadav and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The first T20I was played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Thursday, July 23. It turned out to be a one-sided contest as India ruled the roost.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mayank Yadav bowled rockets with the new ball and made life difficult for the batters. Prince Yadav also bowled an excellent spell as Zimbabwe lost three wickets inside the first five overs.

Sikandar Raza tried to break the shackles after Shivam Dube was introduced into the attack. However, he perished in the attempt of improving the scoring rate. Ryan Burl and Wessly Madhevere forged a 32-run stand off 35 balls but they failed to inject any sort of momentum into the innings.

After Burl was dismissed for 26, Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani stitched a gutsy 57-run stand off 37 balls as Zimbabwe finished on 125/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, India lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma early but Vaibhav Sooryavanshi came to the party and smashed 50 off just 18 balls. He was dismissed off the 19th ball he faced but he had already taken India on the brink.

Ishan Kishan (35) and Shreyas Iyer (28*) played well and ensured that India reached home without much fuss. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on six as India romped home in 13.2 overs.

After three dismal outings in England, the 15-year-old prodigy finally announced himself at the international scene. In the second over of India's innings, bowled by Richard Ngarava, Sooryavanshi hit two sixes and one boundary and he never looked back. During his 19-ball 50, the youngster smashed four fours and as many sixes.

Pure box office from Vaibhav at Harare 😮‍💨👌

Mayank Yadav generated serious pace and bounce and Zimbabwe batters failed to cope. He picked up the wicket of Brian Bennett with a peach of a delivery to start the match. A few overs later, he dismissed a struggling Dion Myers. Mayank finished with figures of 2/18 in four overs.

Mayank Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his red-hot performance with the ball. Playing for India for the first time after 21 months, Mayank showed no signs of nerves. The right-arm seamer made the Zimbabwean batters dance to his tunes and bowled a match-defining spell.

The second T20I is set to be played at the same venue on Saturday, July 25.
